Oconee County and Watkinsville is a mecca for artists. In fact, the City of Watkinsville is called “The Artland of Georgia” due to the large number of artists in the community. American Style magazine recognized Watkinsville as a “Top 25 Arts Community” in 2011. Oconee Cultural Arts Foundation (OCAF) was founded in 1994 and is a non-profit arts center that is prolific in Watkinsville and surrounding areas at providing cultural art festivals, exhibits, classes and performances.
Additionally, Oconee county is home to three golf courses that are either entirely or partially within the county. Jennings Mill Country Club and Lane Creek Golf Club are both in Oconee County, while the Georgia Club is bisected by Oconee and Barrow Counties.
